A Blog about a blog.

I'm blogging about a blog which blogs about my country. (Did you understand that?)Anyways, this person blogs about places mostly in the west though. Parishes such as Montego Bay (Mo'bay), Ocho Rios(Ochi) etc. It's filled with pictures and stories.
This makes me miss my country even more, but yet it's preparing me for my trip back home soon with Leonson. I miss the simplest things I took advantage of when I was living there.
My goal for my trip, was to get two things, A professional camera and a laptop.
But I can't wait that long to save two grand ($2,000.) So I'm just going to get the camera and a whole bunch of USB, because I WILL be taking pictures non-stop.
I'm going to go and eat breakfast now. Wait it's after 2, going on 3. I mean brunch.
This reminds me of the time when I was hungry and I went in my back yard and picked ackee, and steamed a pot of rice,(oh, I miss those days.) I'll trade that for a meal at McDonald's, Burger King, Applebees, Olive Garden and every other restaurant out there.

I already told Gaylia that when I'm in Jamaica, my diet will consist of everything Jamaican. So that means, Every single Jamaican soda there is, (even though I'm not a big fan of soda). And pastry, (drops, peanut cake-even though I'm allergic, Gizzarda etc.) And fish, Jerk chicken, Jerk fish, damn it, everything jerk, except Pork. And fruits, sweetsop, soursop, guinepp, mango, apple, and the list gos on.
I'm off to eating brunch now.

New artist: Jah Vinci.

I personally think that I've been disowing my my country's music (reggae), I switched to so many different genres, except country. I stopped listenning to majority of new reggae music, because of artists like Movado, Vybz Kartel etc. There music is about shooting and having sex with women. I don't want to listen to that. But yet Hip Hop is about violence, having sex with 'every girl in the world', jewelry etc. So why do I even listen. Today's music is lower than ever, both hip hop and reggae. Whatever happen to music like Bob Marley, Make peace not war. Anywho, my brother downloaded 'his' music on my computer and mine got deleted. So as I'm typing his blog, I'm listenning to this artist name Jah Vinci.

I love it!!
........Well most of his songs. For ex: Guide me, Prayer, Wipe those tears.
I need to hear more from this guy. More I tell you, MORE!!

I'm unable to upload his music at the moment. But I can always count on youtube. So click here to hear his music.

R.I.P. Lady Bustamante. 1912-2009.

A historical figure in my country passed away yesterday at the age of 97. Her name, Lady Bustamante. She was the widow of Sir Alexander Bustamante ,(who is one of our 7 national heroes, and was the first prime minister, after Jamaica got indepence from England). She was highly involved in the formation of the JLP- Jamaica Labour Party (one, of 2 political parties in Jamaica.)

Haha.

I'm all about women empowerment, but I honestly dislike this lady. (Palin). Her last day in office is Sunday. Thank God. Hehe

I absolutely love this picture.

Smoking causes a number of diseases, which eventually damage your lungs, your heart etc.
People STOP SMOKING!!
I exercised with my dad today. We walked all the way to Manhatten and back. But while we were there, we saw people exercising. Then I saw a grown man, finish exercising, and took out a cigar. *I'm speechless* He was just puffing away.
Anywho, we continued walking and saw a woman eating fried chicken, fries, and drinking a soda. OMG!! My dad and I, along with other people that were exercising were just looking at her. They were probably thinking that this lady is fat and greedy, and she should put the drumsticks down, and come exercise. I on the other hand was thinking about how she and I could share the food.
What can I say, I love food.

Racism in America.

Earlier this week, a black man by the name of Henry Louis Gates was arrested for trespassing on his OWN property. He came home, and was unable to get in his house. A few neighbor's saw a black man trying to enter the house, and called the cops. When the cops showed up, he showed them his i.d., but yet couple minutes later they arrested him. For what? Hmm, anywho, President Obama gave his opinion on the entire situation, and said the police officer acted bad on his part, and should apologize to Mr. Gates. In response, the officer that arrested Gates, said he's not apologizing, and that President Obama should apologize to him. LMAO. Is he serious?

I don't want to call the cop a racists, because for me, I don't just throw that word around. But, that was a racists move, I have to agree. I bet you any amount of money that if Mr.Gates was a white man, they wouldn't even arrest him, and the neighbors wouldn't even call the cops.

Coming to this country, I was introduced to racism. Thank you America.

A couple with the same name getting married.

A Tale of Two Kellys Man and woman with same name met through Facebook, getting married
By ADAM KUPERSTEIN and BRIAN HAMACHER
Updated 2:51 PM EDT, Mon, Jul 20, 2009

Kelly Hildebrandt and Kelly Hildebrandt will be joined in holy matrimony in an October wedding in Florida.

Kelly Hildebrandt is in love with Kelly Hildebrandt, and soon they'll be married.

It's been a whirlwind romance for the guy and gal who share the same name, and it all started with an innocent Facebook message.
"She started off 'Hey, I saw we have the same name, and I thought it was kind of cool, Just wanted to say hi I guess. LOL,'" the male Kelly said.
Kelly the female, from Coral Springs, was curious to see profiles of people with the same name when she happened across Kelly the male in Lubbock, Texas.
"I searched my own name and he's the only one who came up and actually in the picture he didn't have a shirt on and I was like oh he's cute," said the female Kelly.
Three weeks later, male kelly flew to South Florida to meet female Kelly, and they hit it off immediately.
And now in just three months, the Hildebrandts will officially be married.
"We get a couple of the same reactions, usually it's like 'whoa, that's so awesome and totally different,'" said female Kelly, 20.
Male Kelly, 24, has moved down to Florida and plans on working at the new branch for his company, Primerica Financial. Female Kelly is finishing up her studies at Palm Beach Community College.
The wedding will be at Lighthouse Point Yacht Club in October, a quick turnaround -- just eight months after the two first met -- though male Kelly has no reservations.
"I felt like there was a good possibility that before I ever came out to meet her in person, that this could be the girl I'm gonna marry," he said.
The marriage won't be without problems. In fact, one problem has already presented itself before the two have even stepped foot on the altar.
"He's even already got some mail coming in, and we have to open everything, because we don't know whose mail is whose," said female Kelly.

A backpack by Roxy.

I'm not one to like things with flowers. But when I saw this backpack, I immediately fell in love with it. So, I have approximately 2 weeks of summer class, and when I'm done, I have 3 weeks break before I start the Fall semester. I absolutely love this bag. It's so beautiful. It can be carried three different ways, which is a plus. But my problem is the price. $50. COME ON!! I love it that much, I might even get it. Or should I wait awhile, maybe they'll drop the price. I think I'll wait until the end of August to get it.

What is my blog about?

I made this blog to put my thoughts in words. I have a lot to say. For example; from politics, to fashion. From science to art. I love it all. I'm very critical when it comes to certain issues, for example the economy, and religion.
My parents are Christians, so they teach us the teachings from the bible. I believe I'm the 'black sheep' in my family. My brother is turning 22 real soon, and he graduated from a 4 year college with a degree in Business at the age of 20. Yea, 20. So for me, I feel as if I have to work just as hard to be just as good as my brother.
I'm currently attending college. My major is nursing, but my psychology teacher keeps on telling me to look at other fields, for ex: Psychology.lol.
Even though I'm going to school and doing what I want. My main goal is to not disappoint my parents.
Why nursing?
My mom was a nurse in Jamiaica, and she loved her job because she helped people.
So, that's one reason I picked that field.

I've been busy for the entire day. I studied, did grocery and cleaned. I'm still cleaning. I'm so tired. I took a break to call Leonson, but he was kinda sorta busy watching Kite Runner(which is really a great movie). But the book is way better. Thank you Mr. Angstadt, (my english teacher) for introducing it to us.

Target.

My God-sister and I went to Target today. We got up early and left the house to go to the gym. But when we got to school, it was closed. So we went back home and Gaylia (my god-sister), started complaining about how she's tired. So I told her that if she came, I would have bought her KFC. That kept her going.lol. Only Gaylia. So anyway, we left home AGAIN.
We finally reached Target and saw some really good stuff. For ex: This new product. I think it's called LUXED. It''s really good. They come in body wash, body spray and lotion. They had the gist set, and travel size set. I'm not one to love orchid. But one of the body spray consisted of Vanilla and Orchid. That had to be one of the best scents I've smelled in awhile. It was that good.
Gaylia and I were going to buy it. But then I spent my money on the sale Bath and Body Works had. I regret what I did (buying B&BW product). So anywho, we were there for awhile (a good 15 minutes). Then we decided not to get it. One bottle of body spray cost $6!! I'm broke at the moment, so that was alittle steep for me. We walked around the entire store. Then we finally reached the beauty products, and I saw the biggest Garnier Frutese bottle ever. And they were selling it for $5. So I managed to pick that up, and an imitation body wash by Target. They copied off Caress Tahitian body wash. Target's price - $3.05Their price - $4.80. And the best part was that it smelled so good.
We were both surprised that the company's brand smelled just as good. So Gaylia bought a whole bunch of them. About 6 bottles. They even copied Olay, I don't care because I don't use it.
Andwho, I ended up buying a bottle of 2 in 1 shampoo and conditioner by Garnier Fruitise. A Target's brand body wash (with pomergranate seeds), and a season slicer for my godmother. My total = under $20.00

Currently:

Studying and looking for a job.

The government.

This post is a follow-up to work study, and how dumb the government is. We all know that the country is in a recession. But yet the government keeps spending money carelessly. Why is that so? Does it have to do with them being selfish and incompetent? A country so 'great', has a individualistic society,(me,me,me, it's all about me and no one else.) The people are like that, and so is the government. You have people here that is starving, homeless, in extreme debt, and on the verge of suicide. But yet you have people making millions of dollars for ramming a company to the ground.
This is a great example of the government spending money unnecessarily- Yankee Stadium and Citi-field.
The Yankee Stadium was in good condition, and they tore it down to build a 'better' one. Are they serious? They also destroyed a park close by, and built a little shopping area. They say it would be good for the community, because then there would be jobs available. They also say they would build a better park for the locals. That has yet to be done. Back to the jobs being available for people in the community. Well, the locals are stating to complain, because the stores that came in the area, hired their own people, and people in Manhatten. Hm hm hm.
My Sociology teacher (may his soul rest in peace), always said that this country is built in a way so that the poor stay poor, and the rich stay rich. The laws are also made to work against people who aren't white. For ex: The Jenna 6 incident. This took place somewhere down south. 6 black-African American boys were charged with beating up a white boy/s. It had something to do with a tree, and how blacks couldn't sit under that tree. Andway, the white boys bebat up a black boy/s also. But they were charged with a lesser charge than the black boys. They did the same thing. But because they were white, they had that upper hand. It's sad to see these type of things taking place in today's society. We're in 2009 and this crap still goes down. If you want to make it in life you have to work hard. And if you're black, you have to work harder. Because people tend to look down on you if your skin is colored.

Work Study.

I'm going to be a part-time student this coming fall, and I have to make myself useful by doing some sort of work. So I was talking to my father about WORK STUDY. I don't know if they have it at every college, but my school has it. So we (my dad and I), continued our conversation about what I would do when I get accepted for work study. Because my grades are good. And I know the guy in charge of Biology Tutoring Lab, and he said if they ask me where I'm interested to work, I should tell them there, because then he would accept me, and say they need more people. Understand what I'm saying? So anyway, he told me to go to the bursar's office. I went there, then the Bursar's office told me to go to a room. I also went there. Then when I went to the room, they told me to go this other room. I know,(sadly my school has the tendency of letting people go to where they want to go.) Anyway, I went there, and the lady then told me, "oh, sorry, but you need financial aide to do work study."
The one thing that came to my mind was how this government is F^@%ed up. But yet, they complain about money problems.
I'm furious at the moment. I don't know why. Maybe because I thought this would be my only chance of actually having a job. Because seriously, I'm sick and tired of making resumes, filling out applications and going to places asking if they're hiring. I'm also tired of going to interviews, and waiting until the company sends you a letter saying, "we're sorry, but you're not qualified for the position we are seeking at the moment." I'm also tired of companies throwing away my resumes because I have no experience. How the hell am I to get experience if no one wants to hire me?
I'm sick and tired of it all. But I guess I have to go back to doing that. My mom told me not to give-up, but I kinda am. It's like I'm putting so much work into finding a job, and nothing comes out of it. What do I have to do, how far should I go? Do I have to lie in my resume' about my past working experience?

Yours truly
Marcine -desperately in need of a job.

Mom, dad, when I swear, please let me be.

According to researchers, Swearing mitigates (lessens) pain.
So, the next time you buck your toe, hurt your arm, or have a headache. You now know what to do. SWEAR.

""Hip Hop is becoming ridiculous."

"Hip Hop is becoming ridiculous" - Gaylia.

I so agree. What happened to that REAL Hip Hop? Lately majority of rap artists make 'music ' about jewelry, money, hoes, cars, shoes etc. What have the industry come to? I miss that GOOD music. Today's society needs to stop supporting terrible music like Soulja Boy, Gucci Mane, GS Boyz and the list goes on.

"Blacks and unemployment."

According to researchers, "higher percentage of black people are unemployed, compared to white people."
Hm, I wonder why? Does it have anything to do with this country being the most racist in the world, even though they're in denial.

Funniest video I've seen.

Gaylia said she wanted to eat take-out AGAIN. So I ran into this video and I laughed until I cried. Gaylia and I started laughing so much.

After the video I then asked her if she still wanted to eat fast food. Her response, "yes."

Aneurysm.

A ruptured vein/vessel. If it occurs in the brain, it could cause a stroke.

Anemia.

Anemia is a blood disorder which I have. Anemia is the production of less RBCs (red blood cells). It could be due to lack of iron in the body. This is bad because the blood transports nutrients and oxygen. And a low red blood cell count leads to less oxygen being delivered to every tissue in the body. The symptoms: fatigue, weakness, shortness of breath, lightheadedness(which I get often), and palpitation (irregular beating of the heart).
There are things that help with this disease. For example: Iron pills, dietary changes,(eat things that consists of a lot of irons, vitamin C and vitamin B12-which helps with the production of red blood cells.)

The things that help me when it comes to iron are:
peas-which have a lot of iron.
vegetables (callaloo, spinach, brocccoli,etc.)
eggs
peanuts-even though I'm allergic to it.
raisins
Soy milk

Things that help me with vitamin B12 are:
Cereals - cornflakes
meat-fish, seashells - not too much though, because they contain mercury.
dairy products- cheese and yogurts.

Things that help me with vitamin C are:
Oranges
Kiwi
Mangoes
strawberries
watermelon.

Leukemia

Leukemia is a disease caused by overproduction of the WBCs (White Blood Cells).

R.I.P. Professor Carl Daley.

I was in lab last week and I found out that my Sociology teacher from the Fall semester passed away from a stroke over spring break. I was speechless. That guy was such a good teacher, even though he blamed technology a lot. For example: He would be the last to enter the classroom, and see us (his students), on the phone or any electronic devise. He would then say, "It's really sad to see people on their gadgets, while they could be talking to someone. Technology isolate you from what is going on at the moment."
And also, I wouldn't forget the time he went off on Itunes. He blamed them for making people lazy when it comes to buying music. He said in this time of year people buy music through download etc. He then said he prefer the long journey going to the music store, seeing what albums he like, flirting with the cashier, and having the record in his hand going home. He was a funny guy, and I enjoyed having him as a teacher.

Disney World's Monorail crashes.

Walt Disney World monorail crash kills employee.

ORLANDO, Fla. – Two monorail trains crashed early Sunday morning in the Magic Kingdom section of Walt Disney World, killing one train's operator, emergency officials said.
The transit system, which shuttles thousands of visitors around the sprawling resort each day, was shut down while authorities investigated the holiday weekend wreck.
The monorail operator died at the scene of the crash, which happened around 2 a.m., said Bo Jones, deputy chief for Reedy Creek Fire Department. The other train operator was not injured, but was taken to a hospital because he was emotionally shaken. Five park guests were treated at the scene.
Disney Vice President of Communications Michael Griffin identified the driver as 21-year-old Austin Wuennenberg. Griffin would not discuss how long Wuennenberg had been with Disney or the circumstances surrounding the crash.
"They are extremely rare," Griffin said of accidents at the park. "The safety of our guests and cast are a top priority above all else."
It is unclear what caused the crash, Jones said. Orange County Sheriff's officials are investigating the cause.
Jones said the crash happened at the park's ticket and transportation center. About a dozen guards wearing blue Disney security uniforms guarded the monorail station Sunday morning and prevented visitors from approaching the area.
Griffin would not comment on a video posted on the Web site of Orlando TV station WKMG. The clip, apparently shot by a guest at the theme park, shows several people trying to get the driver's attention as they examine the wreckage.
"This is such a close-knit community, " Griffin said. "Our hearts go out to Austin's family. It's a sad day here."
Ethan Meus, who was visiting the theme park from Dubuque, Iowa, said he and his family took the monorail to dinner at a resort hotel Saturday night. Meus, 17, watched the Magic Kingdom fireworks from the monorail on the way back to his hotel, he said, and didn't notice any problems with the train.
"It's pretty shocking to hear that a driver was killed in that accident," Meus said.
The family was planning to take the train again Sunday to visit Disney's Epcot Center, but now planned to take a bus, Meus added.
"You would think it would be so safe," said 20-year-old Lauren Shoebottom, who was visiting the park from London. "You don't expect it on holiday, do you?"
Walt Disney World vice president of public affairs Mike Griffin issued a statement offering condolences to the employee's family and saying the monorail was closed.
"It's a bit shocking," said 22-year-old Danielle Williams, of London. "Disney seems so perfect."

Best I Ever Had - Drake.

So I watched Drake's video for Best I Ever Had. Kanye West made his directorial debut (I think), and the video sucked, bombed , need to be banned from t.v...... The song was so popular, but the video; OMG, one of the worst I've seen thus far.
Anywho, my God sister came here yesterday from Yard (Jamaica.) She bought a pair of those 'natural' slippers. I like it, but damn, I can't feel between my toes. It's a push toe slippers. Thanks Gaylia, not complaining. I could take a picture, but I don't have a camera. That is the 2ND thing on my list to get. A good DSL camera. I'm sick and tired of the miniature digital cameras. She wants to go out and about, but she needs to find someone to take her around, because I still have class. A month left. 6 more tests to go.

R.I.P. Karl Malden 1912-2009

I remembered reading a book called The Street Car Named Desire as a Junior in High school. When we were finished reading the book, our teacher (Mr.Angstadt), brought the movie for us to watch it. It was really good. He had a long and healthy life. He died at the age of 97.
